Are the GB very intelligent men with higher than average IQ? Or are they stupid men who were put in their position by sheer “LUCK”
by John Aquila inare the governing body of the wt wickedly smart with extremely high iq or are they leaders of the wt because they were at the right place at the right time.
(in other words, pure luck )-think lottery.
ive seen them talk in jwtv and you can never convince anyone in the whole world that these guys are in the same category as someone smart or cunning like jim simons who founded renaissance technologies or bill gates.

You don't go to the top of any hierarchy by sheer luck nor do you have to be a genius (unless it's a tech company). -

Had you thought of feeling sorry for the G.B?
by The Rebel ini only bring this to the board, because a friend of mine once said he felt sorry for the footballers who made so much money.
that comment stayed with me, and over the years, the more i thought about that comment the more i agreed with him.. i admit the g.b destroy people's life's and are the sublimation of all that's good in people's life.
there only excuse is a fantazy asylum they claim to believe in.

The Rebel:
Ok my point of the O.P was, by resenting the G.B, the only person I am hurting is myself.
No. You can hate Nazis and other evil people without hurting yourself.
Maybe I am selfish, but what good does it do me to fick, suit, and piss my life away hating the G.B.
We're not pissing our lives away but are, through this forum, helping others that might be pissing their lives away in the Org.
Why not just feel sorry for them and move on?
You can move on without pitying or feeling sorry for them.
I mean I can't just pretend they didn't exist. So I can either hate them or pity them?
I am not wasting my life on hate I choose pity any day?
Just because we hate the WT doesn't mean our entire lives are consumed by hatred.
But I also appreciate the comments that offer justified reasons why they hate the G.B.
I am just talking about where I am in life.
There are many here who have reached the last stage of leaving the Org but still hate them. Hatred is not something you have to grow out of.

All they're going to do is refer you back to their publications on the issue. It hardly matters whether those books cover your specific points or not. -

EXACTLY Why JW's Are NOT Christian
by Perry ina lot of people, ex-jws, believers and unbelievers alike, think that jw's are just a somewhat kooky brand of christianity.
is it possible to "try and follow jesus" and not be christian?
what exactly makes someone a christian?
-
Village Idiot
So Perry, do you believe that Catholicism is Christian? There's more of them than JWs and Mormons combined.

Why are GMO's bad?

GodZoo:
"9. GMOs do not increase yields, and work against feeding a hungry world."
It's irrelevant whether they increase yields per acre since the greater a yield you have the more fertilizer you need. Synthetic fertilizer by the way is made from natural gas which isn't going to be sustainable.
As for the "hungry world" there will always be a food shortage because of population increase. Increasing yields will only provide a temporary band-aid solution. There is a law of diminishing returns in everything and that would include yields.

I really don't know what to make of their financial issues but it would be nice if someone could afford an investigator to look into it. -

Elder gossip
by Jumongi ini'll try to keep this short.
my experience at the hall is elders not really engaging in friendship building communication with anyone.
the only time they really communicate with you is to counsel you or tell you where you need to make adjustments.

I know that I must be the gossip of many JWs but I don't know what they're saying because I have no relatives or friends in there that speak to me. Lucky me. -

Has NASA discoverd flowing water on Mars?
by The Rebel innasa is holding a press conference today entiltled " mars mystery solved".
speculation is they will announce the discovery of flowing water on mars?.
the significance of this is that it raises the possibility of possible past life or future existence on the planet.. the rebel..

The problem with water on Mars is that the atmosphere is too cold to sustain it in liquid form. Ice, yes but liquid water is more problematic. I read that the water is likely to be brine - salt water - which is more resistant to freezing. Fresh water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit; Earth's ocean water freezes at 28.4 F because of the salt in it. The more salt the lower the freezing temperature.
This would be important on Mars since the temperatures there are often time below freezing except at the equator during the day. Any organism in that water would have to be tough in order to go through a daily freeze melt cycle.
